Driven by the belief that everyone should have access to the arts, Turner Contemporary has established an international reputation for their world class exhibitions, learning programme, and high quality audience engagement. The programme of temporary exhibitions makes connections between art from 1750 to the present day, encouraging people to see, think and learn differently. It has featured exhibitions by leading contemporary artists including Tracey Emin, Jeremy Deller, Alex Katz, Carl Andre, Rosa Barba and Hamish Fulton; historical exhibitions of artists including Turner, Constable and Mondrian; and ambitious group exhibitions including Nothing in the World but Youth and Risk.
Since opening in 2011 the gallery has achieved more than 1.9m visits and has transformed Margate, cementing their reputation as the best example of arts led regeneration in the UK. Turner Contemporary now reaches 350,000+ annual visits, supports an estimated 149 jobs and has generated over £41m of additional spend into the Kent economy. 72 new businesses have been set up in Margate since they opened in 2011.
